Cool Change

If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I break a sweat
Time for a cool change....

Failure at the Launch Site

It is not good enough for things to be planned...they still have to be done; for the intention to become a reality, energy has to be launched into operation.
Cartoonist Walt Kelly (Pogo)
It's not the intentions I'm struggling with...it's the energy to launch. Somewhere between the getting up and the going there is a breakdown in command...I even went so far as to put my suit on yesterday morning, but was sidetracked by a magazine article and then a quick stop to pick up some school supplies...came home in the evening with a plan to ride the trainer before House came on...but it was already after 6 and the couch looked so comfortable and I had some planning to do and the night wore on without any exercise...pitiful.

Skippin' Skool for an Adventure

At 211 degrees water is hot. At 212 it is boiling and there is steam. That one degree makes all the difference...On Friday I took a little time off to celebrate the difference one little degree can make by meeting my sisters at Adventure 212 in Stevens Point.

The Adventure began with a ski at Standing Rocks with Michelle, president of Adventure 212, and my sister-in-law, Margaret. The trails were absolutely wonderful - even had "first tracks" in some sections. Brought back many fine memories of the days when Tim and I would spend hours on those trails - pre and post kids - training for the Birkie...Margaret made a feable attempt to infect me with Birkie Fever, but I wasn't sharing that cup of nonsense...fond memories will suffice for now.

After the big ski, we followed Michelle to 212. All I can say is, "Oh my gosh!" This place is phenonmenal. The ambiance is delightful. The food is delicious. The amenities are plentiful. And the staff is warm, welcoming and professional.

My other sisters, Lisa and Mary, joined us at the spa where we indulged in facials and scrubs and massages. Sheer decadence.

What a difference one little degree can make...

Week at a Glance

A quick recap of my week: Project Runway, work, knit, work, ski, work, work, laundry, ski, knit, work, work, work, cook, swim, work, work, ski, work, knit, work, work, work, Project Runway, knit....and now I am off to Stevens Point for an adventure! That's right...I'm meeting Margaret and Michelle for a ski at Standing Rocks and then heading to Adventure 212 for an afternoon of luxury and decadence with my sisters followed by a Saturday morning stroll in the woods. Even bought me some new blue shoes for the occasion...

Night Moves

Last night Tim and I headed out to Cherry Hills Nordic for an evening ski. Tim had a "nightski jones" goin' on and I had a new headlight from Santa to try. Got there just after dusk. Turned on our headlamps and started
Workin' on our night moves
Trying to lose those tiresome workday blues
Workin' on our night moves In the winter night
And oh the wonder....Gotta love night skiing...we'll be back.

Double Dipping

While Tim was home planning his workout, I was actually at the pool. That's right, I have successfully gotten up and out the door twice this week! Today I actually felt like I was making some progress. The first length my arms were fresh...the next length they were fine. By the third length they were fatigued, but the made a quick recovery. How far did I swim?
According to the info posted at our pool, a mile is 70 lengths...that means 35 laps (there and back). The math books say 1 mile = 1,609.344 meters. The length of our pool is 25 meters. Do the math...70 lengths x 25 meters = 1750 meters. Is a mile at the Door County Y longer than any other mile?

Couch Potato

Sunday was a couch day. Between removing the carpet and running a few errands on Saturday, I did something to the lateral collateral ligament on the side of my right knee. Pain!Almost as painful as the Packer loss...The worst part was missing out on a ski at Cherry Hills Nordic with the husband! Of course the trails were groomed beautifully...Tom even added some new hills and rerouted some of the trails to make them more interesting. Hopefully, I'll get out there several times this week...

While Tim is Away...

As Tim and Nick headed to the northwoods on a high school ski/snowboard adventure on Saturday, I took advantage of the alone time by ripping out 450 square feet of carpet from our front/dining/sunroom. By noon, the bulk of the task was completed...we still have staples to remove and some of the tackboard, but the carpet and pad are out! What a change...the floor is in need of refinishing, but, for me, it's still much more appealing than the carpet ever was.
